Myrtle Beach, S.C., July 12, 2007 – Senior Living Communities, an owner and operator of premier retirement communities throughout the Southeast, is pleased to announce the hire of Tiffany Bazen as executive director of its newest retirement community, Brightwater at North Myrtle Beach. (Editor Note: For a printable photo, go to www.corderphilips.com/pr/bazen.jpg.)
Bazen, a licensed healthcare administrator in South Carolina for the past 15 years, most recently came from Five Star Quality Care’s Morningside property in Sumter, S.C.  There she received two Presidential Citations from Five Star for Outstanding Residential Satisfaction.  Previous to her position at Morningside, Bazen tenured at the Carriage House in Hartsville, S.C., and the Magnolias of Summerville, in Summerville, S.C.

“We’re thrilled to have her on board,” said Donald Thompson, president and CEO of Senior Living Communities.  “Bazen’s wealth of knowledge of the Myrtle Beach area and extensive professional experience made her the perfect candidate to represent the Brightwater community.”
During the first phase at Brightwater, Bazen will lead the pre-marketing efforts for the retirement community, which will include recruitment of staff members and personnel training.  Bazen will also be the point of contact for information regarding the new community for future residents and resident families.

A longtime member of the Alzheimer’s Association, Bazen is no stranger to crowds, civic functions and charity work.  As executive director, Bazen plans to execute a strong community stewardship program delivering additional information on Brightwater and other health-related topics.

Brightwater will open its marketing offices inside Towne Centre at Carolina Forest development in early August.  Kickoff ceremonies, celebrations and informational luncheons will soon follow its opening, which Bazen will head.

Approximately 60 acres, Brightwater will be surrounded by the Carolina Bay preserve and the Lewis Ocean Bay Tract, both natural, protected pieces of land that will remain undeveloped.  In addition, nine acres of the site consists of lakes.  When construction is complete, the retirement community will also feature Lowcountry architecture and beautiful coastal landscaping.
With the first phase of construction scheduled to be complete in November 2008, the new community will have approximately 100 independent-living, single-family homes, 160 condominiums and apartments – with 35 units designated for enhanced living, 48 assisted-living units, 24 skilled-nursing beds, and approximately 24 Alzheimer’s units.  A 24-hour emergency response system will also be placed in each home to ensure safety of all residents at Brightwater.

In addition to the variety of residential housing options, the campus will have a healthcare clubhouse, a wellness center with indoor and outdoor pools, full-time wellness coordinators, and a central clubhouse.  Other programs include country-club style dining, social calendars full of events and activities, wellness and exercise programs, and an on-site maintenance and housekeeping staff to take care of both interior and exterior maintenance of residents’ homes.
Wishon and Carter Builders will be the general contractor for the construction of the campus, with Triad Design Group performing as the key architect and Joyce Design Group managing the interior design.

The community is expected to cost approximately $94 million to build.  It will employ approximately 120 persons when it opens, and approximately 180 persons at completion.
