Senior Living Communities: A Tobacco-Free Workplace

Effective January 1, 2009, Senior Living Communities became a tobacco-free workplace.

The Company supports a vision where people live longer, healthier, and happier lives. In keeping with this philosophy, our initiative is to reduce tobacco use in our communities and strive to become a tobacco-free workplace. This initiative is driven by numerous factors, but nothing is more important than protecting the well-being of our residents and employees.

As awareness of the health risks of secondhand smoke has grown, demand for a tobacco-free workplace has increased. Reducing the use of tobacco lessens serious health problems resulted by tobacco use and secondhand smoke. Therefore employees are prohibited from smoking and/or using tobacco in any form anywhere on company property at any time. The definition of company property for the purpose of this initiative includes all land, buildings, structures, parking lots, inside vehicles on company property, and in vehicles owned or leased by the company.

Senior Living Communities is committed to providing its employees with the necessary information and tools needed to ensure their success in this initiative. A "quit smoking" program is offered to our employees who currently use tobacco products.

This initiative is designed directly to improve the health of our communities. Thank you for your support, cooperation and encouragement as we progress towards our goal.
